In the scenes taking place in 1985, the mansion no longer exists and Doc lives in his garage/laboratory which in real life is the carriage house turned giftshop. La La Land is in my top five favorite movies and easily my favorite movie set in Los Angeles, closely followed by Valentine’s Day. I have visited several filming locations from La La Land including Angels Flight, the Smoke House Restaurant, and the Lighthouse Cafe. The apartment that Mia lives in is located out in Long Beach and is stunning! I fell in love with the exterior of this place.

Brandon and Brenda Walsh did not actually live in the zip code or Beverly Hills. The beautiful house looks just like it did on the show. Parking to take a photo at this particular home was not as easy as some of the others. The street is not very wide so you cannot pull off to the side very easily. The homes used for the film sets were in Southern California, disguised to look like Connecticut. They soon learn that the house is structurally unsound and must be torn down. The Blandings' dream house soon threatens to be the nightmare that undoes them.

The film has since been remade under different titles at least three times. The original plot has to do with a New York family that decided to build a new home in the suburbs. It then becomes a matter of everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

The exterior scenes of the Bueller house were among the ones filmed on the West Coast. The Happy Days House is located near Paramount Studios where the show was filmed. I visited Garry Marshall’s grave the day after I came to see this house so it felt like a very full-circle moment. The Brady Bunch House has been one of the most exciting homes that I have visited so far. After HGTV did the makeover of the house I was hoping that they might open it up for fans to see.

The house from Young Sheldon is not in Texas, it is a short drive from the Warner Bros Studio where the tv series is filmed. If you take the Warner Bros Studio Tour you might get to see some places in the backlots where the show has been filmed but they never open up the sets in the soundstages for viewing. However, if you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory (and old Sheldon) you can see Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment and even sit in Sheldon’s spot. The 1948 film starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy celebrated leaving city life and spreading out in suburbia. An episode of the 1950s television anthology series Stage 7, titled The Hayfield, aired on September 18, 1955, and was based on the Blandings characters. In the episode, Mr. Blandings attempts to clear a hayfield on his property by burning it off, with predictably disastrous results. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House is a 1948 American comedy film directed by H. C. Potter, and starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas.
Now with a major shopping center and thousands of homes, Bohannon certainly has left his mark here. The David D. Bohannon Organization, run by a younger generation, is still going strong. The Bohannon Foundation is a family non-profit charitable organization that is still giving back to the community. He was a national leader in real estate development by the ’30s.
Shopping, recreation, schools and diverse forms of housing were part of the plan. New materials and mass production techniques helped keep prices affordable for the middle class. This was right in the middle of the post-war building boom here on the Peninsula. All those returning veterans, backed by the GI loans, were looking for homes. Critics of urban sprawl, of course, think in terms of the loss of all that open space.
But, I can’t pass up the opportunity to visit a famous filming location. The Mad Men house is actually walking distance from the Father Of The Bride house. Immediately after the war, Bohannon resumed work on Hillsdale. Like other major builders, he envisioned a complete community within his development.
This Pasadena home is where Adam & Kristina raise their three children on the show. The Father Of The Bride House is one of my favorites because it looks like such a perfect family home. There are actually two homes that you can visit that were used in the movie. Can’t you just picture Franck and his team adding all of the finishing touches for the wedding reception? You can also visit the home used for the basketball scenes in Alhambra. Contractor Bohannon ceremoniously began his version with a radio broadcast and the participation of various public officials.
When the movie finally opened, proud GE officials found that all the kitchen scenes had been cut out. The craftsman-style house is located near downtown Long Beach.
